Could it be Pentas? A wonderful perennial often used as an annual. There are many, many varieties of every size, form, and color.

Unfortunately night before last, we had a slight frost, and I covered my Salvia, but forgot about Pentas. :(

Hopefully they didn't get hit hard, seems like just got touched, and they will make it.

Pentas might be one of the top three favorite of butterflies and other pollinators in my garden. Even the hummingbirds love it. I use bright red and soft pink in different parts of the garden beds.

Unfortunately Pentas are never available here at the retail nurseries. One would expect they would be a good seller as a four inch pot size. I start my own from mail ordered seed and have started from plugs in the past, but would like the flexibility of being able to pick up the plants locally. Al

I grew them several years in the four inch size thinking they 'should' be a good seller. I'm afraid good sellers are directly proportional to how much media attention an annual gets. I ended up having pentas all over my display bed rather than compost them. So, I quit growing them since they have such a long bench time. Wouldn't you know the first spring I didn't have them, I get approached by some lady admonishing me that I should grow them Pintos. LOL. Uh huh.
