They like poor soil, so they don't need a lot of food. If the soil is rich, they will produce more leaves but less flowers.

Awesome...I did a Search on here for Nasturtium and thought this might be the correct forum to post my question on. Then the first post I see is about them! =) I'm growing some from seed for my daughter this year (Indian Princess) and have a few quick questions. First of all, I believe they don't end up being too large of a plant, but they seem to me like they already need a transplant/pot-up even though they're still small (root systems huge though!). Should I transplant these to individual containers? Also, in-line with ninecrow's question, when I do feed them, how often & what should I use? Any & all help appreciated. =) Thanks! - Steve

Steve, yes I think you should repot them. If you grow them in garden soil or potting soil, I don't think you need to fertilize them at all (potting soil might be too rich for them already).

I would say right. Compost is quite rich, so I don't think you need to fertilize it further.

But of course you can watch as they go. If they look so poor that even leaves are not growing well, maybe fertilize a little, but I doubt if you will need that.

Just read the leaves on fertilizing - Nasties lower leaves will lighten and yellow if they are underfed. They make a beautiful show in a container and are quite forgiving on missed waterings :) Do try tasting them- they have a unique spicy flavor.
