build your soil .. and you wont need fertilizer ....

manure can NOT be used directly from the animal ... too rich .. too much urea.. aka nitrogen ...

aged manure would be better ... bagged stuff is aged ...

compost.. usually free from the city is also an option .... and usually very cheap ....

if you can get your 'hands' on llama manure (aka llama 'beans') that is good stuff.

i might get some if i can use a shovel.. but i dont know about getting my hands on it .... lol

I buy manure compost from a dairy farm about 3/4 mile form my house. It is aged and mixed with stall straw. Not too hot for the plants. I get it delivered for $20/yard. I get 10 yards every spring for the veggie garden and the flower garden.

I vote fro improving the soil. Remember you feed the soil not the plants.

Llama beans are great. Llamas only poop in one small area which makes collecting easy. Once dried they are odorless and weigh next to nothing. And Llamas have multiple stomachs so there is no worry of viable weed seeds.
