Suggestions for new garden bed

I have 3 large sandstones that I found in the woods this Spring. My DH cleared an area where our lawn joins the woods to put the stones. It is approximately 15 x 15. So I am starting a spur of the moment flower bed. I am planning to start cleomes, zinnias and cosmos from seed in the back. I am going to move some day lilies from other beds in there also. But I need some suggestions for shorter annuals that grow fast. I am planning to buy plants for these. The bed will get full sun until late afternoon.
