I bought a few hanging baskets in the used-and-abused section at lowes that had 'zinnia elegans' in them that had gotten some mildew (most likely from that fact that they water everything there from the top with a shower wand). They still looked healthy (except for some gray, crunchy leaves) so I pinched them back and removed all the affected leaves, then watered with some fertilizer. My husband thinks I'm crazy for spending money on blooming plants and then pinching all the blooms (and half the plant off.)

Can anyone give me an estimate as to how long it will take these to bounce back, provided that they get 5 or 6 hours of sun?
