My verbenas are dying

I've planted several verbenas in a raised triangular area in the back yard and I've had to replace one in the same area. I'm thinking--is there something in the soil only in that area? The others are doing pretty good. It gets sun all day, alot of breezes, and I'm watering. What is the symptoms of fungus?

Never knew verbena to get fungus...
You planted several verbena in the area and one died? Sometimes plants just die....perhaps it got dry, or you damaged too much of the root when you transplanted it....
Unless you are having several die, don't worry.
