Try looking it up under this name : Cordyline australis 'Atro-Purpurea'.
Good idea to grow it as a container plant - won't survive your winter if planted in the ground.

Thank you, Renee! I didn't know that was the whole name, but now I can find plenty of information on it. I did buy it as an annual for a container, so that's where it is!

Also can be carried over as a houseplant. If you don't want to dig it up or bring large planter inside, cuttings can be rooted in water on a windowsill and stuck in soil next spring. josh
