I had to look up sweet alyssum because I thought they only bloomed in the Spring. "Repeatedly" is what one website said. Had I known that I would have been growing them!

Can't wait to see pictures. BTW, Petunias are the only plant I cannot grow! lol

Alyssum is a cool season plant that might fade out in the hottest part of the summer...but so might the petunias. A good haircut at some point will allow them to come back strongly in late summer/fall.

In much of this country, alyssum is planted in the fall to keep company with the pansies and other fall/winter plantings. Boy, are the honey bees happy to have some of it around at that time of year@

I do know that if you cut back the petunia's to about 6 to 8 inches or so that they will rebloom nicely. I had to do it last year and it worked great.

I've never planted Sweet Alyssum so we'll see how that goes lol!

I planted Sweet Alyssum last year they bloomed all summer. Maybe if you are in a very hot and humid zone they do not bloom all summer. We have very few days of 90s and my humidity is not very high in the summer. I also have never had a problem with petunia not blooming all summer.

I adore the scent of Sweet Alyssum, but they always poop out on me when the hot weather sets in, unfortunately.

And the scent of petunias on a warm, humid summer evening is one of life's joys - so I plant at least a handful of them every season even though they do require mid-season maintenance in the form of cutting back. :0)

Love Citronelle! Really turned out to be a winner for me, that limey-yellow really brightens up shady shops and looks so refreshing in the garden. It's one of only a handful of coral bells that I've been able to grow successfully.

Yes, Citronelle is for me absolutely perfect all year long and even looks good all winter. I wish my other plants would perform the same way! lol They do light up any dark spot with ease and aren't affected by any pests here!
