Part-shade.

I had Marine bells several years ago in almost complete shade, maybe two hours of sun per day. They did better than anything else I have had in that spot. I should have taken cuttings, I have never seen them again.

On the other hand, I bought seed for browallia americana several years ago and grew it in my shade beds. It did very well there. Somehow, some seed hitched a ride into my all day blazing sun deck pots. They are incredible there. As long as I water regularly, they bloom their heads off and seed back by the hundreds.

It would be interesting to try Marine Bells in sun to see how it does....

I am going to plant some on the north side of the house which only gets sun in the late afternoon, and also some in my perennial garden that will get at least 6 hrs. of sun. I might even try some in a hanging pot in semi-shade.
