Bought two tiny 4-pks from local nursery (never had much luck with plants from this place). Looked real healthy. Have now been planted now for probably a month and are only about 3" at the most. Thought they were tall plants???
The tag is contradictory. Says "Compact, free-flowering. Use in beds, pots" - yet also says grows 20"-24" tall.
So do I have some special compact SHORT version?
Just FYI - I'd planted them randomly in my raised bed which gets a variety of different light. The ones in front, full sun ARE blooming and the tallest. So I moved the others up front with them. They didn't have much more of a root system when I dug them up than when I planted them. The soil is fine, everything else is doing great so it's not soil conditions. Even used food the nursery sold me to cause "profuse flowering" & good roots (yeah, right !!)
Am now just going to wait & see, I guess.
Another question - am I supposed to be deadheading them regularly? And this may sound dumb, but does that mean to JUST cut off the dead bloom....or cut the bloom and stem down to where it branches off from the main stem?
