What did the flowers look like and what is the scale of that picture? They are not a grass since they have bulbs.

one of the early spring bulbs ... of which.. most of the bulbs look much alike ... w/o a pic of the flower.. i doubt there are many peeps who can ID it..

you might want to try the botanists in the NAME THAT PLANT FORUM ... but do let us know.. if one of them IDs it

maybe something in the scilla family??? pushkinia.. grape hyacynth... not crocus ... etc ...

i suppose the hippies at the herb farm cant recall what they stuck in baskets and sold????

What ken said, but if I had to guess I'd go with grape hyacinths. If after they die down you get new leaves sprouting in September, then grape hyacinths it is!

When I purchased them, there were no flowers. They appeared to be a non-flowering plant, but I could be wrong.

Cant you call the nursery that you bought them from and ask them?

Its hard to tell what the true size is from the picture but if the leaves are flat blades with a curve to them (kind of U shaped) and the bulbs are pretty small (no bigger than a quarter) they're probably muscari/grape hyacinth. They're very pretty with little stems of clustered, round flowers that resemble a bunch of grapes, both in color and shape. They're very pretty in the early spring but be careful, they do have a tendency to spread a little bit.

i wuold suggest.. the pot/basket was on sale.. cheap.. because they had already flowered ..

presuming you got a bargain ...

some to these things.. bloom in snow.. or just after snow melt in MI ... i am sure.. they bloomed long ago in your area ...

Those are almost certainly Muscari ('grape hyacinth ') bulbs. When in full bloom, they would look beautiful in a mixed basket with pansies and other spring blooming plants. I hope that the basket was drastically reduced, lol.

If you want to try planting these spent bulbs, select a well-drained site that receives full to partial sun and plenty of room for these bulbs to multiply and spread.....which they will do if they're happy.

Muscari is not an annual, but a hardy spring flowering bulb. Don't attempt to grow it as a houseplant.
