Petunia seeds need light to germinate, so they shouldn't be covered with soil.

Thank You. I have looked into the database and it was helpful. All i did was i just sprinkled them on top of the soil and put a peice of plastic over it.do they need longer to germinate or should they have germinated by now?

It is highly possible that the seed you collected was not viable. Have you successfully collected "wild petunia" seeds before?

i don't know of they are truly wild but are a prple color and look normal.I have never collected seeds sucessfully before and i dont understand how they could not be viable. This is my second seed pod that was colected.
