I don't know what kind of annual poppies you have - corn, Shirley, or Flanders? It doesn't really matter, though, as poppy blooms are all ephemeral, lasting a few days at best... less in wind or hard rain. I have a couple of well established specimen Oriental poppies that put out many buds so even though each bloom doesn't last more than a few days, the blooming period is "fairly" long. There isn't any problem with your poppies, this is what they do. Kind of too bad, too, because they're such wonderful flowers.

I grow California Poppies and this year I am noticing that they have stayed blooming for a lot longer than other years. They started beginning of May and are still going strong and it's the end of June. A few pods are brown but over half of the mound is still showing lots of blooms. I don't know if that will happen every year but I feel lucky this year that they are lasting so long. I hope yours do too
