Window box brackets

I have my window boxes and I've done some research on the "corbels" aka brackets on the internet when researching the style for my home.

I found an interesting article about choosing the right size corbel:

'If you intend to place the corbel underneath a structural beam, the key dimension you are focused on is the width of the corbel. The corbelÂs width should measure as wide as the width of the beam, or no smaller than 1/4 inch of the width of the beam.'

This is true when I look at my fireplace mantel. The corbels are the same width.

I have to agree that when I drive around town, the wider corbels look nicer under window boxes (I'm assuming most of these are original to the home). The problem is flowerwindowboxes.com only sells the narrow brackets, and I'd have to double them up to get close to the recommended width.

I ordered the cunningham window boxes from flowerwindowboxes.com, with the Faux Window Box Bracket #2. I'd post pics here but I have problems with photobucket these days so I am unable to do so.

I'll call the height of the window box the width for purposes of the article above, that being 8". So the corbels should be close to 8" in width, but the corbels they sell are only 3.25" wide, so even doubling these (gluing together) will only give me a width of 6.5".

I'm concerned the corbels will look out of scale under my window boxes. I have a 96" window box and a 60" window box, 4 brackets are recommended for the larger box, and three for the latter.

Does anyone know of any other vendor who sells the wider corbels in this size? Perhaps my next stop will have to be a carpenter???

If anyone has pics of wooden window boxes with brackets they could share, I'd appreciate it.
