What's it doing?

That is SO pretty. But Sharon, I've heard it is a terrible self-seeder and really takes over. Has that been your experience? And how much sun is it in?

I have it growing in full sun, not at all invasive, at least not here in my zone 2 garden.

Ginny, maybe you're thinking of Daucus carota Queen Anne's Lace which can be problematic.

Crazy, that really is pretty. I guess I was expecting bigger all around. Now I'll have a better idea of what to expect and will know how to site it better. Do you find it to be long-blooming, or does it conk out quickly, like baby's breath?

Nope, I wasn't thinking of Queen Anne's Lace.

Janet, I would say they bloom for a reasonable period, here they start blooming around July, right up to a hard frost around Sept/Oct.

Thanks for all the input. I'm not getting much of a show this year, but I suspect that is mainly my fault. I'll give them another chance in the future and hopefully start them out better.

I was just at the Missouri Botanical Garden today and took a pic of their patch of Ammi (havent posted it yet on photobucket). The plants were just beginning to get "brownage" at the base, though the plant was ready to die out, such as my Cosmos will start to do soon. I am wondering if this is expected to happen to this plant at this time of the season? I want to grow Ammi next year and it would be nice to know what to expect. Even if it does fizzle out midseason!

I think everything that Sharon "aka Crazy_Gardener" grows does well for her! I am just like you though, Sharon, people come over to see my gardens and here I am pointing out all the flaws! I still go to the Far North forum all the time to see you alls photos. Keep up the great work! :)

I don't know, but I've never seen Cosmos brown up, only black when we get our first hard frost. LOL.
