overwintering planning

I bought some discount bulbs at Canadian Tire this week. I plan on putting them in the ground just to keep them alive for next year but I'm trying to make a planting plan for them.

I know there are things I can leave in the ground over winter, others that I can't. If I can leave them in the ground I want to plant them in a more perminant area.

What I bought:

Dutch Iris

Freesia

Astilbe

Trilliun

Glads

I think I can leave the Irises, the Astilbe and the Trilliums in the ground.

The Freesia and the Glads it seems like I'd be taking a 50/50 chance or worse.

I also planted some Canna lilies in pots that a friend gave me. They would be easy to dig up, but would I actually have to?

I live near Niagara Falls, Ontario. I think its zone 6b, but I wonder if it can be 5a somethimes.

Thanks,

Rebecca
