I'm in the process of pulling mine up and replacing them with wave petunias. I typically plant new winter hardy pansies in the fall and get two seasons from them as they are among the first to bloom the following spring. Late spring/summer I rip them out and so the cycle continues....my neighbor cuts them back, digs them up, and puts them in pots in the shade for the dog days of summer & then returns them to the flower beds when things cool down, but they're inexpensive enough at my local nursery so I add them to the compost pile instead.

You *could* cut them back hard and stash them in an out-of-the-way shady area (if you have one) until cooler weather arrives.

I don't count on my pansies coming back though, and pitch them out in about mid-June. I just don't care to look at that scraggly mess for several months, and it's not a given that they bounce back. Pots of verbena and supertunias replaced them this year.

I would cut them back quite a bit until they are not so unattractive. Then plant a few other annuals that are blooming to "hide" their flowerless appearance nearby. Then you can see if they come back for you when the weather gets cooler.

Next Spring, grow them with a taller annual companion plant that can provide Summer shade, and cut back in Summer. They will continue to live and rebloom in Fall. Possible companions could be Petunias, Celosia varieties, Zinnias, anything about 15" tall. I use Foxglove and Impatiens.
