I just hate how expensive they are. All my beds are huge so I need a lot of them. They look so good in a group of like 30 plants... That's how I first saw them at longwood gardens.... But in my area they are 3.99-4.99 per 4" pot.

Sorry you had such poor results with your Angelonia plants, but something is wrong, that's not normal at all.

I've grown Angelonia Serena from seed for several years now and don't find them especially slow growers at all. This year I started the seed on March first and planted them outside the last week of April. The plants are now about 18 inches wide and almost as high, and of course in full bloom. That's about the same as they were each year at this time of the year.

Several question come to mind. First, there are no nutrients in coir, did you fertilize (diluted strength of course) the plants when they started developing leaves? Are you now growing the plants in full sun? Angelonia likes full sun and they just thrive in hot sunny areas. Are other sun loving plants doing well in the same area as your Angelonia plants?

My concerns are the same as Art's....don't start them inside unless you can provide optimum growing conditions. I'm not at all convinced that coir is a great medium for this purpose and few can provide the intensity and quality of light that this plant requires. Not for several months of growing!
