Yes, the seeds are very tiny. Don't sneeze when you gather them. :-)

I will be harvesting Lobelia to grow this year as well. Anyone want to share what they know about germination?

I sow the seed as thinly as possible in a seed-tray, and put it in a heated propagator until germination (usually pretty rapid). The main problem is in transplanting them, because the seedlings are so tiny and easily damaged. Most growers transplant them in tiny clumps rather than individually.

I surface sow the seeds, scattering a few in each cell of cell paks, cover loosely with plastic wrap, and put them under the warm part of the fluorescent lights in my plant light setup. That's it. When it's time to plant outside, I plop the whole cell (or half of it) into permanent places. They're too small and tangly to try to prick out and replant.

Ok,,, now I remember the seeds being tiny when I bought them.... I surface sowed them as well but used the winter sowing method with great results! ... can't wait until tomorrow now to get out there and see if I can find some seeds!! ;)
