Sorry it took me so long to get back to this. I love browallia, but I have rotten luck with it. Are there any special tricks I should know before trying to grow it again?

I really like cottagey looking plants rather than tropical looking ones.

Re: Browallia - no special tricks I know of. One thing I have noticed is that the seelings, while they sprout readily, are very slow to grow indoors. Mine are usually pretty small when I start hardening them off before planting. Once they are outside, even in the flats before planting, they really start to take off. The other annuals I grow seem to grow steadily indoors and are nice-sized transplants by planting time, but for some reason not browallia. But, once planted, they do wonderfully and eventually catch up. Just one of those odd things...

I'm in a completely different zone so not much help as to growing conditions other than to say here in Michigan partial shade is best.

I'll give them a try again next year. Can't hurt, right? All it wastes is a packet of seeds...
