Hey everyone,

I currently have two zinnias growing in pots. They both have started blooming, but here is my question:

One of the plants I topped above the 2nd true node, and it now has 4 beautiful branches, 2 from the 1st true node, and 2 from the second true node. The other plant I did not top because I want a large, magnificent first bloom from it. I also want a long stem, so I plan on cutting the flower stem off just above the 3rd true node.

The untopped plant has 8 true nodes right now, and my one bud on the main stem that is maybe 4-5 days from opening for the first time. So if I plan on cutting the flower off above the 3rd true node, would I get a bigger, more beautiful bloom if I go out right now and cut all of the sideshoots off from the 5th node up? I assumed that this would give my plant more energy in the main flowering stem, and I obviously will have no need for the sideshoots after I harvest the flower. Is this correct? Is this a good idea?
