Would love to see pictures of a mass planting as you suggested of just zinnias. There is a neighbor who has done this, will try to get a picture for you, though I think they need to be spaced closer together...there is a wire fence around it to keep out dogs I think, rather than keeping the tall zinias from flopping.

I tried something like that this year. But it is a rounded bed of cannas and dahlias and in my zone 5 they all have to be dug up and stoed for the winter. So I guess that is a type of annual. And I do have some earlier shots of the bed in a previous post of mine.

Go to the 'cottage gardening' forum, search words 'red bed' and see what the poster 'gottagarden' (or something along that line) has done with a 50' bed alongside her drive. She's used perennials and annuals, along with shrubs, but certainly something similiar could be done on a smaller scale with annuals (it's just so spectacular - when I first saw the heading I thought, hmm...just all red flowers....boring....NOT SO!). Beyond gorgeous in my opinion.

And yes, please post photos when you're done.

That is a very lovely bed. Is that moss roses on the bottom. Did you find the finds or did you find the seeds. If seeds where. Thanks

not sure, Paula, if you are talking about the whole bed or the portulaca (moss rose).
The Moss Rose I bought as plants at a garden center, as I did with the coleus and felicia daisies. The zinnias, cosmos, four o'clocks, marigolds, cockscolb, celocia, nasturtium, poppies, ornamental kale, and sunflowers were from Buree Seeds. Of course I cannot forget the Elephant ears from bulbs.
