Don't have a pic right now, at work.
It was damaged in that it looked like someone stepped on the side of it. It was the heavy rain and wind. It is very top heavy with flowers.

I didn't fertilize at all. I have clay soil and didn't amend. This happend about 2 weeks ago and live in Louisville Kentucky.

Maybe I should just cut away large sections of it. Hate to do that because there are some good flowers.

Perhaps you should consider adding some nutritional support for you plants. Annuals can be heavy feeders, requiring plenty of available dissolved elements for flowering, cell division, sturdy stems, strong cell walls, and much more.

Another factor in this situation could be the amount of sunlight that your marigolds receive. Anything less than many hours of full sun could result in weakened, spindly stems.

It should go without saying that few plants will withstand torrential rains and extremely strong winds, especially soft topheavy plants such as marigolds.

Why flower bends

its a full sun plant... are you growing it indoors??? .. if so ... it might be somewhat weak because of such ....

also.. could anyone have brushed across it .. and broken the stems??

as long as you keep deadheading it. ... you should get more blooms ...

I have the same problem and I have grown marigolds for 50 years. They break every year because the limbs are heavy with blooms and rain or wind breaks them.
