Do you have the botanical name for "Licorice Plant"? Al

Shelli: Since you mentioned you had the golden variety, I'm guessing your plant is helichrysum petiolare "Limelight". I can understand why you hope to keep it for the next season - the foliage is lovely.

I'm several zones farther south than you and have a longer growing season. Here, helichrysum gets very big and it's considered a low growing shrub. I would think that even for your zone, a 4" pot would support only one plant and even that for a limited time. You should be prepared to increase the pot size as spring rolls around and the plant gets into growth mode. Because it's drought tolerant I would guess it has a decent root size system that will need room.

Take a look at your current plant - how many plants are in the container; what is the container size, etc.
