You've explained your situation well but I would also recommend putting out pictures for all to see exactly what you are dealing with.

Hi dnbu, there are no rules that say both sides of the bed have to be symmetrical, the key is to create a visual balance. I agree a photo would help for a more detailed discussion.

Dytecture, thanks a lot for the pics. I really like the designs. I've tried to create visual balance over my bed: I have a double-hung window over half of my bed with wooden venetian blinds and a textured wall-hanging with little mirrors and a border more or less the same color as the blinds over the other side (it's about the same size as the window), but it still feels off. Maybe, it's not balanced. Sorry, I can't figure out how to download photos. Thanks for commenting, Karen.

Try 3 square frames / art items instead of the textured wall-hanging. Similar to the 3 art items in this photo, but a little larger. The 3 might balance the window over the bed better than the one wall-hanging. The top one (of the 3) aligned with the top of the window and the middle one at the middle of the window and the lower one aligned with the lower part of the window.
