Reconstituting 5/1/2

Hi, everybody. This was my first summer doing container gardening(vegetables). I used 5/1/2(pine/peat/perlite), and had amazing results. I put mix in about 20 18-gallon storage tubs, and lined these along a privacy fence with a southern aspect. Draped from the top of the fence was 5' nylon trellis for the climbers. Huge heirloom tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, squash decorated with nasturtiums spilling over the sides. No weeds, no stooping, no muss, no fuss. I've got a succession crop of potatoes started in some of the tubs now.

When planting the spuds, I noticed the mix became really fine over the summer--basically the pine fines had decomposed. My questions are: Can I get a second summer out of the mix, and can the mix be revived by adding a fresh batch of pine fines? Thanks.

Misterbaby.
