Seed swapping list gone???

Hmmm...I haven't traded for awhile, probably last year, I was just going to refer someone to check my list to see what else they may want but when I check it...it was gone!

Anybody know what has happened to my lists?

This happened to a number of people in the past year. Some people were able to find their list by running a google search and then clicking on the "cached" option under the search blurb. -Google maintains a memory of pages that exists even after the page is gone, but this cached memory is overwritten the next time it crawls a site. Evidently, your page has been gone for a while, because I don't get a Google hit when searching for your username + gardenweb + exchange.

However, I must have looked at your page in September of 2005, because there IS a cached version of it on my desktop from that time. -I found it by using the Google "Search Desktop" option. Anyway, don't know if this helps you, but here is your list from September 2005.

If this isn't the most current, you might try performing a Google search of your own desktop.

    Regards,
    Susan

Vegetable seeds that are fairly simple to store at home for three to five years include tomato, pea, bean, lettuce, beet, cabbage, cauliflower, radish, carrot, cucumber, watermelon, squash, spinach and eggplant.
Long storage also is possible for flower seeds such as marigold, zinnia, pansy, petunia, verbena, cosmos, nasturtium, dianthus, stock, sweet pea and alyssum.
Onion, sweet corn, parsley, strawflower and candytuft are among those with the shortest shelf life.

    Hi Melba,

You are most welcome. To use the Google desktop search function, you have to install a free Google download. -Here's info about the product and a link to the download.

    Regards,
    Susan

It is always a good idea to keep a copy on your computer. It makes it easier when time to update it. Anyway, thanks Susan for the info.

I hope you are able to retrieve you most current list.

    Hi Melba,

I just had a blinding flash of the obvious: Google Desktop can't help you now, because it needed to be running back when you had a list and were looking at it. -The Desktop retains a memory of files/web pages you have looked at and then allows you to search that memory. It definitely is a great product, though, and often can save your bacon.

Thanks Susan! You have saved my bacon as well as can be expected under the circumstances. By the way, I looked at your 'want' list and I have both of the Neomarica "Walking Iris" N. gracilis and N. caerulea you seek and I can give you some starts. I have rooted N. caerulea now, but not N. gracilis. My plants are budding now. When the flowers are finished N. gracilis will make plantlets where the flowers were and I can start some for you then. Email me if you want them and we can make arrangements for you to receive them.
