I have chains with hooks. I work in the basement so that was pretty much the only option.
You still have something you built instead of bought. That's something to write home about.

And besides-- your pvc grow rack sounds more moveable than hooks in the ceiling. (Hooks in the ceiling irritate me. The previous homeowner put such hooks into the rafters through the drywall, and it took much labor to get the dratted things out of the celing. Then the holes had to be mended.)

update on this little project. i got inspired by someones little rope light seed warming mat, and did something similar

1-6ft rope light. 9$
1-cheap cookie sheet- 3$
cardboard, aluminum foil, and duct tape

tape foil on one side(facing up) of cardboard(big enough to fit cookie sheet. snake rope light around cookie sheet. i punched tiny holes and threaded twity ties(the bread ones) to hold rope light in place. Covered whole assembly with cardboard cardboard and taped. plugged in, set tray on top and good to go to 78 degrees. seedlings have already emerged.

had i known, post Xmas would be a great time to pick up rope lights, and for some reason no thrift stores had ANY cookie sheets.

You already have seedlings? That's great! Sounds like a winner.

yeah, about 4 days start to finish. i was pretty suprised. i really didnt believe that soil temp would accelerate the process that much. all daisies. Slightly concerned about where theyll go after transplanting them. figure it out when it happens i guess. considering the weak winter were having, they may be able to go in the yard in February...
