I have counted 100 Sabal(cabbage) Palms on my property. I do not trim them as I prefer the Highwaymen Look and want the wildlife to enjoy them. Of course with every wind I get quite a few on the ground.The fronds are hard to deal with as chippers tend to get twisted up in the sinus hairs of the frond.I do not care to fill the landfill with them ,

I noticed if I stripped em lengthwise they were pretty good mulch. My dad who was born in 1928 is always bugging me for stuff to do so I told him what I had in mind. I could not believe it when I saw what a great job he did!Now he sits and makes his magic mulch all day even collecting fronds from the neighbors.I put wet newspapers down first as the wormies love it so .The mulch is great and dad is happy to help out!
