Could you send photos of your vanity

I vote double vanity--simply because you can show your husband how clean your sink is and how toothpasty his side is!

I concur with idecorateit! Many times my projects are designed with a large single sink with one or two wall-mount faucets, leaving much functional workspace and better storage in cabinetry underneath. Truth be told, the vast majority of couples rarely get ready at the exact same moment, so for most people the second sink is moot...even if one spouse is a slob...Aside from captnchloe's hilarious reply, I would rather have to clean the one sink than forever see the adjacent dirty one! But it is funny that despite this, double sinks are seen as more luxuriously appointed...likely because we are naturally conditioned in many ways to believe having two of anything is better than having one. Forcing two sinks into MOST (not all, everyone's a little different in the way they work) bathrooms can decrease the function of that space dramatically.

Though double sink vanities have been around for decades I believe they will eventually be considered an unwanted pecularity in otherwise great bathrooms. They continue to be a sign of conspicuous consumption. Do couples really find they are unable to take turns and must use the bathroom sink concurrently so often that 2 sinks are a must? Siblings would typically rather take turns and have the bathroom to themselves than share the room and each have their own sink to use. The one reasonable argument for more than one sink in a bathroom would be a household with a large number of children. Double sinks are unnecssary use of your budget and vanity space.
We've remodeled a number of bathrooms and are about to move into a custom designed and built home. The master bathroom vanity is 6 feet long, one sink. In our current home the master bathroom is quite small. My husband and I are looking forward to having more counterspace so one person can use the sink while the other can still use the vanity for other grooming needs.

I would have the makeup area designed the same way as the single vanity so if future buyers wanted to retrofit a 2nd sink they can do it without too much complication.
