Wow, thanks everybody! If you look closely, RosemarieRo, there's twine tied to the branch. I stood with my back to the gutter on my house, and put the camera on full zoom. That almost guaranteed a reasonably similar crop and focus range. It was far from perfect, but it worked. I wasn't sure how it would work, it was really just an experiment, but I thought it came out pretty neat.

I'm hoping to be able to follow this branch again next spring, see how much it grows. We'll see if the twine lasts the winter!
