apple tree pruning

i planted an apple tree this last fall. it has four varieties grafted on to the rootstock. at the time i planted it i didn't want to prune it because it still had some foliage and figured once it all came off i'd prune it. well time got away from me, now it is budding already. i'm still afraid to prune it, not sure what to do. should i wait until summer to prune and just try and shape the grafts the best i can or is it safe to prune still. i don't want to hurt any of the grafts. they are all similar sized, but one is much shorter than the others. originally i was going to cut them all to match the shortest graft's length. any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
