These grow fairly easily, spring time is good before budding out.
Not much root needed, sure, more is better but sometimes there isn't much. I found out that sometimes you have one clump of about 4 or more stems, these you can divide into single stem with not much root left, you can plant them into a pot or the ground, hopefully you have these on it's own root, one year suckers or two I have mostly dug up.

Are you sure you don't have a grafted tree? Most Cherry trees are on a rootstock now, but Evans Bali, may not need one since they are a naturally small tree.
