Keep em watered (true for all newly planted trees) and sometimes pawpaws require shading for the first year, especially if they are seedlings or newly grafted (though my own purchased pawpaws didn't require such shading, you are in a warmer zone than I so yours will likely require it, at least for a few weeks).

I got 3 growing from seed. I'm located in charlotte,nc. They are about 1 year old and seem to grow very slow. I'm assuming because of the clay and heat. They are shaded though. Should grow very well since they grow wild in our local parks, like Reedy Creek.

I have heard that they are slow to start from seed but once they establish they can be quite fast growing if conditions are right. I am thinking about putting leaves and stuff around mine so it will be more like their natural Forest type environment with lots of organic material.
