It's called "guttation." Monsteras and Philodendrons are particularly prone to it. It's not harmful in and of itself, and will often happen after a watering.

If it's happening all the time then it probably indicates that the plant is too wet, and you should reduce the watering frequency or repot it into a lighter, better-draining soil mix.

Does this "guttation" sticky? I have this happening on my Money tree plant, but its on the stems...

I have a Monstera Pertusa growing very well in my Conservatory.During the last two weeks,the leaves have started to become shiny,one after the other.This shiny leaf ??? has now spread to plants alongside..eg a Palm..Should I Panic...Will it kill the infected Plants..

schut: guttation is NOT sticky---it's just water forming on the edges of the leaves. If you have a sticky sap on your stems you likely have an insct problem like scale, aphides, mealies, or spider mitess.

ron: I've never encountered this "shiny" problem you speak of. Check for insects (they can leave a shiny sap behind),or better yet take a photo to help us ID the problem properly. :)
