Blueberries suffering

Hi. I bought six blueberry bushes from Miller Nurseries, two years ago. Three Chandler and three Bluecrop. They have been in the ground since May 2012. This morning I was walking by them and noticed that one plant was completely out of the ground, and was very tiny and did not look like the roots had ever spread out. I admit they looked pretty sad last year, sickly and small without much of any new growth. I know what healthy blueberry bushes look like as my father's plants are eight feet tall and only about ten years old, and these were pathetic. I tugged gently on the ends of the branches and every one of them just popped out of the ground, it looks like they were in the ground for the full two years and never put out any roots.

Does anyone know what may have caused this and what I can do about it? All of the plants look like they have buds on them but they don't look healthy. I was very optimistic for a huge blueberry crop and I have nothing. I will admit I have no idea what my soil pH is, but I can't imagine that the bushes wouldn't root at all if they were in an alkaline soil? Anyway - they are all popped out of the ground now and I think I can save them by potting them until fall in an acid potting soil - if I can confirm that was the problem.
