Hey is that a greyhound I see? Is he one of the retired ones? I think about getting one all the time but I don't have a big back yard. I love your relatives. I have two cats, one inside/outside and one outside. They live safely like this because we have a sheltered back garden they both adore and they never, ever roam away.

Michael, Cute! is that a boxer and a chocolate lab? Two cats? I would know that boxer's "let's play ball!" stance if I saw one!!! Copperfish, I have a Great Dane, a boxer, a border collie/aussie mix(daughter's who lives with me), a German Shepherd(daughter's also) , and my son's boxer! I also have 15 cats, but don't have their photos ready yet!!!! BB

Yup, Boxer was abandoned and brought to us, The Chocalate Lab was brought home by the white cat. We did try to find the owner, and the Black dog, a Boxer/lab mix, was adopted at "Petsmart". The Cats were also throw aways. We lost 2 other smaller dogs this year to old age.
Three of our dogs are/were purbreed. I can't understand people getting animals and abandoning, well mybe I can It is done with babies. enough gloom. I have really learned 'some' patience and tolerance having 5 to 7 pets around. No matter what happens they are always ready to be a friend.

    Fun thread!

This is our bigger tigger Bob. He's not just your ordinary house cat. He is the master and we are merely servants.
Add to that the fact that his photo has been published recently in a British magazine with a circulation of 1/2 a million... well... he's almost impossible to live with now!

    Really fun thread!

I have 3 ferrets, and 6 cats right now, but I don't have pictures ready yet, but I would like to share my story about the famous work cat Tippy. She is known all the way to Japan (gets fan mail) and all throughout the antique curcuit cause she is the shop cat for my antique mall. She really is one of a kind. She knows her job is shop greeter and does her job well. She has lived at the shop for 7 years and rules the roost. She has been known to point out an item a customer has been looking for, several times. She often is seen riding on customer's shoulders throughout the shop. When customers come in with children, she will babysit them while the parents shop. She is VERY special and unique and so loved by many.

Wow! Fan mail... Cool! Bob doesn't get fan mail :(

Ok, so I don't personally have pets--my boyfriend has a dog and a cat which I love. But, while doing some research on an elephant that use to be in a small zoo close to where I grew up as a child, I found the elephant now residing at the Elephant Sanctuary in Hohenwald, TN. and now check in on some of them frolicing in the fields. You can only see them during the day on the webcam (allow some time for the picture to come up), of course, and occasionally they go out of the camera range but most of the time there's anywhere from one to three showing up.

I love this site. It tells a story on all of them, how they got to the sanctuary and others that they are trying to adopt.

Not a domestic by any means.

GC, Bob is beautiful! Tippy says she usually doesn't like cats or dogs for that matter, but she would send fan mail to Bob anyday! She says if she wasn't neutered, she would sure like to lick his big fuzzy face.

lazydaisy, that elephant site is really cool!

I should have known that many tufaneers would have wonderful pets. Do you folks have acres of room? I miss our old house with 3/4 acre. This new one is too small, but I have a strong urge to get more cats. Two is just not enough. I hope we get more pictures. I love this thread.

Wow "Celebrity Cats" and I met them here!!! Can I have some autographs (or pawgraphs)? Beautiful cats with some big attitudes, I can tell. And all of the doggies are pretty good lookin' too--don't want to leave them out.

GC, How did Bob get to be in a British magazine? Was he the centerfold of the month? Anybody here have any little dogs? I want to get a nice little dog that will follow us around and go for little walkies and chase a ball, chew a toy and such. Maybe some little dog that will sit in the kayak with me. My last dog hated water.

gottatufa, we like to think that it was Bob's rugged good looks that got him a spot in the magazine... and while he is big enough to be a centerfold in his own right (18 lbs. of attitude), we don't know why his picture was chosen or what it was used for. My DH is a pro photographer and has a bunch of pictures with a stock agency in Britain, Bob's pic is just one of many.

Dogs... right, I forgot, we have a dog too, a black lab crossed with something rather bothersome. A real goof, 11 years old going on 2. I thought older labs were just big lovable docile things! We are patiently waiting for her to slow down. She was also a rescued reject, came with a displaced hip which required surgery inside the first week we had her.

Sorry I can't offer any advise on little dogs - I personally like Jack Russells, but they sure aren't for everyone.

Zack the marbled Bengal, the cat who thinks he is a dog because he is always following you around, rolls over like a dog, and has to be in the middle of everything. His fur feels like velvet although it is not quite as soft as when he was a little kitten but at 15 pounds and two years of age, he is no little kitten anymore. As you might notice, he is a photo hound.

My other cat is EZ, a Havana brown with fur the color and feel of a mink. Much smaller than Zack and weighing in at only 7 pounds even though he is going on 5 years of age. He definitely is not a photo hound and hates to have his picture taken. In fact, here he is sticking his tongue out at me.

My sister is an adoption councilor for her local shelter. She is also a cat fan and a sculptor. She sculpts miniatures in earthenware, fires them and paints them and uses her kitties and other people's kitties for inspiration. I thought you would get a kick out of seeing some of them. They are very small, only about 1 1/2" tall, but she packs alot of detail and humor in these little guys. A picture of her little baby cat she raised from 2 days old, was found inside a wall and brought into the shelter, is in there too.

Jo, those tiny kitties are really great! She has a knack for getting the cat-antics just right! Does she sell them to make money for cat shelter care? I was going to share my cat art, but Photobucket is acting up on me. I'll try later! BB

Jo, those tiny kitties are making me want to get out my sculpey and try a few! Here are some of the past things I made, but haven't really done any painting in a few years. You can see, I am very influenced by cats!! BB

Oh, You are good! Your gourd cat looks just like Zack, ncksvilledudes bengal, doesn't it?

My sister does sell them. She puts them on ebay and calls them kittybits, and does sell them once in a while for the shelter. I love your chair!

Love those sculpted kitties Jo. Your sister does a fabulous job with them.

18 cats BB. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!! My two are enough to keep up with.

WOW BB 18 cats, if they were all like my tigger I would never have even 1/2" of my bed to lie on. At least my black lab mix lies beside the bed unless I go in before my husband, then my bed is invaded immediately by 68 lbs of dog who refuses to move until my husband comes into the room. Don't have pics of Dill the dawg I can put on the computer but here is THE CAT!

I am so pleased to see so many rescued animals, over the years every one of mine have been rescued animals except the very first.

Jilly, that is one good lookin' tigger w/ 'tude! I know how it feels to give up half the bed to an 18lb Bob, can't imagine having a 68lb DOG there too!

Everyone's pets look so content and well looked after and well loved. Heartwarming to say the least.
