old cement

Hello everyone, my name is Evelyn and I am addicted to Hypertufa :-)

I took a class 2 years ago, and never had to buy a pot for my plants since. All pots always came out great, until now.

Reading through your forum I get the feeling my old bag of Portland Cement could be the reason. It had hard pieces in it which I hammered to dust. I know laugh at myself for being so stupid, and I am just glad I did not make more than one batch.

The pots stay soft and crumbly and fell apart when I took them out of the mold.

just to be sure, it would not be the colder and less humid time of year that's causing this failure, but the old cement?

Evelyn
