I am a newbie at hypertufa as well, but back in Sept. I made my first pots. They actually turned out very good and are now outside getting rinsed by mother nature and will be ready for planting in May. It was very easy, but I would say you need a thicker plastic for easy removal of the mold. I ruined one because I use a thin cheap plastic bag from the supermarket. I plan on doing more when the weather warms a little.

Thank you for your advice, Clare. I've been interested in doing hypertufa for many years. I recall reading an article in Martha Stewart's "Living" magazine as far back as 10 yr. at least. I'm especially interested in making pavers for a walkway at our summer cabin this spring. I'd also like to make planters for container planting, as well as a bird bath. I know the possibilities are endless. I appreciate the tip regarding quality of plastic sheeting. I didn't know that so appreciate it very much. Is there a tried-and-true recipe that most find of good quality? I'd like to start with expert advice.
