You sure can refinish a concrete patio/floor and not have to break up the underlying concrete.

I happened across a local (Albuquerque, NM) business that offers some pretty nice options. If you will e-mail me at gothicmuse2@yahoo.com, I'll be happy to supply the information you need to get you started.

Look in the yellow pages of your local phonebook and drop by places that offer concrete overlays and floor refinishing, especially those that offer showrooms. You can get some ideas and you might stumble across something like I did.

Fear not, you can do the refinishing yourself.
