Tufa vase
If I have already posted this (I don't think I did?) please forgive me. I used WHITE mortar mix and ground vermiculite to make the tufa. The white mortar mix is the stuff you buy for installing those lovely glass block/bricks. ANYway... I also tried an idea. I applied a thin coating of the tufa over a salsa bottle and let it harden. Then I applied the next, thicker coating. Next I cut out the patterned area and added a touch of black cement colorant and carefully packed it back into the grooves. Turned out pretty contrasting which is what I was hoping for!

I also imbedded a gold bead into the black pattern where it dips down. I keep cut flowers in it on my front porch.
Cheerio!
