Sorry the mold is 18"x20".

I made about 16 leaf stones myself. I used portland & sand. I think they will be stronger without the peat. I also had bought a bag of Quikcrete, but it was very rocky & I like the texture of the portland/sand mix much better. Based on information from this site I used 1 part portland and 3 parts sand. They turned out great. Good luck!

Would you mind telling me what the leaf mold is like? How thick and what kind of leaf and where you bought it. I was thinking of trying to make one. Just wondering if buying one would be easier.

This is the mold that I purchased off ebay. Any ideas how they colored the stone? Thank you for the prompt response. I am off to HD. By the way, how long do I leave the mix in the mold before I can release it?

If you are using the concrete/sand mix, you can unmold them the next day. I try to wait about 24 hrs. It's hard to do sometimes!!!!!

I would suspect that they used acrylic paint (like from the craft store in small bottles) of a metallic type, but that's just a guess.

Patio Paint brand makes a very nice "leaf" green. I am almost out and can't find any at our local stores (Michaels,JoAnn's,WalMart) Any craft paint will work good. Some people seal them with a outdoor sealer some don't. I do because I am selling some of my pieces. The say to reseal every year to best preserve the color.
Concrete/sand mix will give you the most strength and detail from your mold. The place you go your mold from has very nice molds. I have bought many from them.
