When I think I have something interesting enough to show others, I'll post it. I really want to do an indoor water feature...on the floor, with a small waterfall, not a table top thingy, and I have to figure out if it needs to be permanent because it's too heavy or if there is a slightly lighter technique...styrofoam coated in hypertufa, with wells for plants, etc. I also need to put a screened cover on it at night because of HUGE slobber-lips dog. Great balls, Rick. Look out L&L. I like the lightweight masks too. Is that a frother in the ball on the base? Is the base cast over foam? Very nice work.

Is your DW working on letting interested parties know how they can order? I also think adding the dimensions and weight of your items would be of interest to them.

Anyhow,the balls actually come in 4 sizes-12 inches up to approximately 36 inches.On the upper end,the weight is approximately 40 lbs or so.We're getting another scale to weigh them.

The ball on the base has a light with coloured lenses,a water input(from the pit below)and a multi-head mister.It looks cool at night,a little hard to see during the day.You're right,the base is concrete over foam,actually over detail mesh for strength.The whole thing doesn't weigh that much,probably 60 lbs,just guessing(that includes base and ball).Since that photo,I've added a pouty lip to the ball to improve the water spillage.This was a test to see if the components work,and I believe that they do.The ball in the fountain is about 26 inches in diameter.I'll be double checking my measurements and advising for sure.As to shipping,masks won't be a problem,given that they weigh between 4-8 lbs.The balls,on the other hand,I'm not certain.They are thin walled and in the larger sizes,probably would need a crate to ship them in.Each of the larger ones takes 8-10 hours over 3-4 days to make.I'm aiming the orbs at the condo owner who wants water,but not the weight,and wants to be different than his neighbour.Given that Vancouver probably has the largest concentration of this kind of home in North America,and literally thousands coming on stream in the next few years,I think I'll be able to satisfy my sales in this area,so personal delivery will be possible.I'll be doing a couple of craft shows,one here on the Sunshine Coast,and one closer to Xmas in Vancouver,so I'll be able to get our name out there.
I'll keep everyone posted about successes and failures.
