'Weeping' pomegranate

I have a "Wonderful" pomegranate in a pot which has had a hard couple of years. First it was planted outside in a sheltered location in which I hoped it would thrive, but it was getting too cold in that location and I dug it up one winter and stuck it in a pot. Since then, it's been moved 3 times (as have I, unfortunately) and each time it was in a less than ideal spot so it's been a little starved for sun until this spring. It now has a sunny south-facing spot outside and can be brought inside for the month or so this winter when it will be too cold.

I repotted it this past weekend into what I hope is it's permanent container (18g tub). It has a double "V" main trunk which is strong and sturdy, has good root development and this spring it has leafed out well and has good color. It does need to be pruned this winter to open up the inside of tree a little.

However, aside from the main trunks, it's branches are rather long and thin and weep down. I don't think this is normal. Do I need to stake or support these branches -- at least the ones I plan not to prune -- so they can begin to develop normally, or am I worried over nothing?
