Try the heavier gloves that are made for chemicals. They are flexible enough so you can use your hands, but not so thin you go through them. If you clean the tufa off when you're done they will last for months.

I love Mud Gloves, they are tough, but thin enough that I can work the tufa as I need to. I usually wear a pair out in a summer, but they are tough. Actually, I only wear out the tip of the middle finger on my right hand glove. Hmmm

Thanks for the suggestions. The Mud Gloves look great. Do you have a specific style - i.e. Ultra Mud Glove, Mud Glove Eze, etc that you like best? Are the sizes standard? I think I'll order some today. I gave my fingers a rest this week, but the weekend's almost here!

I just use the regular Mud Gloves. Just remember to rinse, and when you are rinsing, remember that the back of the glove is cotton, so don't dip your whole hand in the bucket!!

One other thing - if you do get cement on your fingers, rinse them with vinegar after washup. That seems to help a little bit.

Regular dollar-store dishwashing gloves are suitable for much work with concrete.

If you need thin gloves, investing a few dollars more in Nitrile gloves is better than constantly changing latex gloves. I believe the price difference is about $3 per box, but maybe more now with inflation.

Keep in mind that all rubbery-type gloves deteriorate with exposure to the ultra-violet part of sunlight, and none of the thin latex or Nitrile gloves last forever once their container is open.

And yes, vinegar will help to neutralize the alkalinity of the cement. Using a good hand cream afterwards will also help.
