wood stains

Hi Guys,

Been quite a while since I've been here. Pretty much gave up on this site when it changed hands. I've been checking it out again recently.

I am unable to obtain acid etch stains where I live, or much of anything else I would like to try, so I often end up using water based wood stains for colorant. No matter what I do the color scuffs very easily. Just scratching lightly with my fingernail scuffs the surface and the bare concrete shows through.

Does anyone know of anything I can use on projects that will keep this from happening or at least minimize the problem? I've tried several concrete sealers. They make little if any difference.

Does anyone know of any outdoor spray sealer or other sealer that may work? Preferably not shiny. A spray sealer would be ideal as my projects are often deeply textured and it is not easy to get down into all the cracks and crevices with a paint brush.

Has anyone had any luck incorporating wood stain into the mix?

Thanks for any input.
