Personally I don't think it'd be much of a problem for tolerant plants like Chlorophytum, Aglaonema and common Sansevieria varieties. Growth would probably just be slower than if these were placed in say, a West window.

Hi, I have a skylight in my kitchen and I have a pothos on the floor off to the side of the skylight. It does extremely well here. Other than distant light from the window by the sink, this is the only light it gets. Pothos don't require a lot of light tho. I don't know how a plant that requires more dirsct light would do at that distance.

Caladiums, Alocasia and some coleus would do good with that lighting. I also have some aloe vera that have overwintered inside with no direct sun.

I too have a room that get very little light. I would put a table underneath or near that skylight and try some ferns..I have 5 that do remarkably well in those conditions...I also have a corn plant, a peace lilly, pothos, and clivia plants that do mighty well.

You could also use a couple hooks from the ceiling or near the skylight and hang a couple plants as close to the light as possible..Hope this gives you a couple of ideas..:-)
