transport a gunnera leaf

I am thinking about trying to get a gunnera leaf from someone in Seattle (we are visiting my brother this next week) and wrapping in plastic with the stem protected. Wondered if it would survive and also wondered if they would let it through security. I would like to carry on but might have better luck if it were in it's own case with plastic peanuts. Any thoughts anyone? Marie

If you are going by plane, (way it sounds) I think you might do well by getting it boxed well wrapped in a tube, and shipping 'next day delivery. Cost might be a factor. What about a large tube? the type contractors use for footings? I have seen those in 6 foot lengths and are 18 - 24' wide. (of course cut down to the proper length.
Just thoughts.......
