I use this same formula:

4 parts portland
1 part silica sand ( the finest grit, almost powder)
1/4 part fibers
then just add admix to make a mudlike consistency.

Don't add the paint, I can tell you from experience you don't need it. Give it a try.

Thanks for replying. I want to use it to try a sphere (with an opening) Let's just say my first attempt didn't work. Do you add any water or is admix the only liquid you add? The talented people on this site make it look so easy. For those that have made spheres do you use a thinner mix to place on the ball before you add the mesh to it?
I might also use this mix for a bird bath. I have this very cool "shaped" thing (not sure how to explain it) that kind of looks like a morning glory flower. I have made two but need to tweak how I do it some more, before I make another one.

I use this mix for many things...but not for spheres. I don't know why it wouldn't work though. If you are going to use it for a sphere I would recommend using half water and half addmix.

I use my recipe for really fine detailed (thin) leaves that will be added to the exterior of pots or other things. They come out thin but strong.

When I do a sphere I start at the top with a pattie of mix and then embed enough strips of mesh in that pattie to cover the ball, adding concrete then pushing the mesh into the crete as I work down. Of course I add another layer the next morning.

The mix should be great for the flower shape...we want to see pics when they are done.
