spray painted sphere

Linnea2 posted photos of her moving sphere that she recently spray painted. Here is my sphere - spray painted a year ago. Does anyone have any experience with how well typical cans of spray paint will last on concrete outdoors???

    Thanks, Laurel. Here is some info on the paint job:
    I first colored the sphere (made from quickwall which uses white portland cement so the ball was white to start with) with watery washes of acryllic paint (typical 79 cent little plastic bottles from Hobby Lobby). The sphere was 26 inches in diameter and it was driving me crazy to keep turning it and not letting the washes run. I decided to get out some old (maybe even 8 years) spray cans of paint and try them. These cans had been sitting in the carport freezing/thawing/heating to a zillion - whatever Indiana climate can do. I sprayed away til I was happy and now the ball has been outdoors for a year and I think it still looks like it did the day I put it out. I can't recall if I did a sealer after painting or not. I am going to guess that I did NOT because trying to brush that stuff on would have caused runs and I didn't have any spray sealer at the time...

    Hey Laura, that looks great! I think we're onto something old ;o)
    I am definitely not going to bother with stains, washes, acrylics, diluted latex
    or air brushes. I'm lousy at maintenance and I hate runny stuff.
    I'm putting my marbles in the graffiti bag!

    Did you read about the "caps" in my last post in the other thread?
    I'm ordering a hundred assorted ones for under 10 bucks.

    I've noticed every can sprays differently anyway, and the wind has its own ideas..

    Very nice Laura. Looks like a great setting for it. The large evergreen makes a great backdrop.

    Linnea2 , that was an amazing (to me) website offering the various tips for spray cans. I am on my way now to check out the ten dollar assortment.

    Packrat- yes, I made the 2 boulders. I am pleased with the shapes, the strength, and the light weight of them but I sure need lessons on painting them to look like rocks. I keep waiting for further inspiration.
